The coyote stepped up into the little area that'd been separated specifically for duals between two or more combatants who just wanted to test their mettle against another. That was what Kiju was here for. Now, he did not want injuries to occur, other than the occasional bruise, so he took his two blades, and set them down in a chest that was meant to hold the real weapons of the duelists. Now unencumbered, he went up to the 'weapon rack' and chose two wooden swords that were fairly good imitations of his own blades, one longer than the other, but still ranging to the longsword / shortsword coupling.
All he wanted right now was to know how well he could perform against those competent enough to be considered real warriors and fighters, not the normal soldiers he’d come to just mow down in his quest to find the commander or captain he’d been assigned to kill for some reason or other. Having no specific opponent in mind, he just took a seat on the arena with his legs crossed, blades set ‘edge’ to the side to wait for someone of like mind as him to step into the arena and either challenge him, or let the coyote issue the challenge.
(Short post, but...blah, just a request for a practice dual. I just want to learn the mechanics of it is all. And yes, I know this is OOC in the dual arena but...eh, only one I'll make unless I have a question.)

The Dragon's Claw
Talis strolled into the arena, he had no real idea what was oging on. He was just ehre for a a good fight. Maybe someone aorund here was worth his time. He had on his typical leather armor, light and enough to keep him safe, adn agile. His single longsword at his side.
Looking around he scoped out who all looked worthy. He spotted one. This one looked dangerous. Mayeb he was. Probally not. His left hand darted to his side and ripped his sword free from it's sheath. Looked around, his arms in the air, as if to issue a general challenge.
"Who here thinks they can match me in singles combat?" He looked around, and his eyes locked with the coyotes. "What about you beast? Would you test your fangs agianst the claws of the Dragon?" Talis brought his sword down and pointed it straight at the head of the coyote.
(A little rusty, so don't expect anything grand. I suppose I'll make a good training dummy.)

Kiju had been contemplating some things of private when he heard someone grow closer to him in particular, and not by accident. One rust colored ear twitched, and swiveled to face the sound of footsteps, ‘watching’ them move along the dual circle. He heard the rattle of a sheath against leather leggings with a few pieces of armor here and there, indeed more than the coyote wore. All he was decked out in were the warrior garb of the clan he belonged to, though whose fate he hadn’t a clue on. He hoped they were alright, and that he might return to them and their ways if at all possible in a later age…if he lived that long that is.
The sound of metal sliding along its sheath greeted his ears next, and caused both this time to face the approaching being, his nose catching the faint scents of a human among all the leather, sweat, and blood of the dueling area. It was only when a verbal challenge was issued that the coyote to open his amber-gold eyes to stare directly at this so-called ‘Dragon’. Instead of answering, he slowly stood up, training swords in paw, and put one under his arm to pat his fur of the dust from the floor. He took his time with getting his fur clean, only then turning to Talis “I do not use my fangs on anything but wild game, or if I am unarmed against a foe.” The coyote stated, and raised both swords in a ready stance. His left footpaw slid forward, and he turned sideways, the left-paw, shorter blade pointing straight towards the challenger “Put away your steel human, I do not wish for bloodshed.” He thought about it for a moment, then corrected himself “Too-much bloodshed.”
Though this being a serious matter, he could not help but give a light jab at the human “And besides, if you are a Dragon, then wouldn’t you be dead, or in some cage that a wizard would have made?” Kiju then grinned “You certainly look scaly enough now that I think about it…”

Fool
Talis watched as his foe stepped up to him. Not too close. But close enough. He seemed confident in his stride. Maybe this one had something to him after all.
Talis threw is sword away, out side the ring. He ushered to an attendant bring him a similar wooden sword. He kept his eye on the coyote the entire time. "No Dragon would let himself be captured, dog. But unlike most, I will not be defeated." he eyed his foe once more, this time sizing him up. "How about we switch the rules up. Just for fun, and since these are wooden weapons. The first fighter that cannot stand any longer shall lose immediately. Beyond that let's have at it." Finishing his small speech Talis began to march on his foe, his sword held in his right hand.

Kiju just waited calmly while the human was armed with the wooden sword, only then turning the left blade up into a more ready and guarded stance. The coyote Hunkered down to provide a smaller target, and to give him the leverage and grounding to resist, and retaliate to any blow attempted. "I don't believe most dragons actually are defeated...mostly just slain by countless opponents." he grins for a moment "Or a singular warrior of strength and skill."
His ears perked at the offered rules for the fight, supposedly to make them more interesting. He didn't quite see how exactly they were more interesting that way, but he chose to humor Talis "So basically all I have to do is knock you over, and I win? Sounds pretty simple..." He shrugged, then backed up two paces as his opponent moved in to attack. Kiju wasn't one for lengthy battles...although a canine's stamina definately helped. Giving just a moment to bunch his muscles, he then sprang towards the human to close the distance with the right blade moving to strike at the one sword of his foe and knock it out of the way, while the one in his left paw attempted to slice at the unprotected neck.

12:53 AM
The coyote ran at Talis, needless to say it was a typical move. Talis himself began running, just as the coyote neared range Talis leapt to the left, and forward. Hitting the ground he stopped himself after one short roll. Keeping down he swung his sword for his opponents knee, from behind.
Rules
-No Hidden Weapons -No Deaths -We keep fighting until one is knocked out, or gives up. -Don't be stupid and argumentative

(I know what a Practice Duel is...)
Kiju saw the maneuver and deftly flipped his left-paw blade around so it was in the position you would hold a dagger, only to stab it down at the ground in Talis' blade's path. (Back-hand Stance) He couldn't help but wince though from the loud *clack* it made. His ears pinned back, and he turned quickly and leapt away to get distance between he and his attacker "Not bad human." he said while flipping the left-paw blade back into an offensive position.
He smiled and got once more into a combative stance, right blade raising over his head to point at his opponent while the left hand blade went to point at a thirty degree angle facing Talis "I believe it's your turn to start, come at me then 'dragon'!" he shouted, drawing the attention and heads of many of the other duelists, getting a small crowd to begin forming around the ring.

Disarm The World
Talis' blade struck out, but with a loud knocking of wood the blade was stopped before it hit his foe. As the coyote backed off Talis rolled back a few feet. Seeing no hostile movement he stood up, a dusted the dirt off his legs, not that it was that visible on the tan armor.
The warrior looked around, there was a crowd gathering now. This wasn't the time to lose. Not when so many people of different races where here. He would prove that no animal could beat the "dragon".
"So beast, do you think a mere inbred dog can even hurt this dragon?" Talis started forward with a rush, crying the last word out as he did. As he reached about 3 feet from his foe, he swung his sword upward, through the legs, putting all his weight and strength into it.
(Since it is your duel, what kind of arena are we in? Stone, sand, grass?"

(Just a normal stone arena, white lines marking a circular ring. Standard.)
The coyote waited while Talis dusted himself off, just simply wondering how he would attack. Using one sword had its advantages and disadvantages, such as it gave you the ability to use both hands on the same sword if you chose...unless it was a shortsword anyways. While this was good, it left one open for twin wielded blades, unless they were very skillful with that singular sword.
Kiju intended to prove this theory in his favor, and parried the upward slash with his left blade, keeping it up and out of the way so that his own sword could be thrust at his opponent's chest. He secretly disliked using practice swords in a fight, since it wasn't life threatening, and thus one's adrenaline got pumping in a lesser quantity than it would have if this were for real. But, Kiju just wished to see if his skills had gotten any worse off for living under the protection of Palace Guard.
