I'm bored, and I could use the practice, it's been too long since I've had a decent duel.

The Rules Since I was asked so nicely ;D 1). Humans. Nothing superhuman, super leaps, speed...picking up trees and chucking them at your foes. You know... 2) Two weapons. Period. Mines will be my new weapon of choice; twin patas. (click -> here for details.) 3) The battle arena...an expansive forest, nightfall. Dark, but the moonlight gives light for us to see. 4) To the death, since the chars aren't really ours. Just ...you know. And thats about it. Sound okay?

Moon is full, and provieds a lot of light, and I'm ok. My main character will be wielding a shorter spear (6 foot) and the small dagger like sword I have in my profile. And again, first post is to you, and there's no rush.

Still as the tree he hid behind, Celox lowered his head, conscious of the fact that his foe was now in reach. It would be difficult to get past his opponent's weapon, but if he could manage that then the fight would be his. He had to approach this skillfully and without flaw, or else this dank forest would become his final resting place.
Straightening himself with a deep exhale, he turns from around the tree to see his foe, some dozen meters dead ahead of him.
“...”
He then begins to walk forward, his body consumed by spots of both light and darkness; the shading from the trees keeping the moonlight from completely rendering him visible while at the same time not so much so. He speaks not a word nor utters does he even seem to utter a breath. He moves with a fatal silence, a killing intent overly palpable about him....

(I bet I'll lose this one. ) Night.. The Moon.. a feint fog approaching far off, too far off to matter now. The calm mood and tone of the scenery and weakly lit sky was overpowering, though Yerev, whom was cloaked in black cloth with small amounts of light armour under it, couldn't give a damn. He needed blood, death and destruction. His urges must be answered, his small spear rising up almost on its own, following the moving creature before him, his eyes yet to look up even. The spear kept going until it hit a tree, and the yellow eyed(for the sake of rp) bandit looked up finally, a small portion of his face revealed finally, his look like that of the ice cold blue that one finds at the bottom of the ocean.. The bottom of the ocean.. endless, open, dark and oh so quiet.. such peace... The feint sounds of feet patting across the ground could be heard, as it deliberately began to pick up and become louder. Yerev breaths out the word bold, his feet walking now forward toward his opponent as well, until he stops just a few feet away as he raises the cloak from his face, revealing his icy features. The night napped at his face, the cold burning into his absolute and calm features. To his left, five feet, to his right, five feet. To his front, seven feet, to his back, six feet. He'd make his stand here. Grasping the spear within his hands, he balanced the weapon, both hands firmly upon it as the tip was pointed toward the ground. His legs were slightly bent as he readied himself to move. Just about four feet up his spear was his right hand, his left three behind it. His shoulders were bent with his body as he held the blade off to his right side, with his left shoulder closer to his walking opponent than his right shoulder. He'd make his stand here, ready to dodge and strike..

An awkward stance for me to take on. Damn. ...To the right, his swing would be weaker... slower to counter if I were able to...
But... his left is more vulnerable...
...Tsch...
His thoughts. By judging how the man held his weapon, Celox began to mentally picture his best path of movement towards his foe, and of course, his foes reaction to it. Yerev... he weapon seemed more ready to make a swing left than anything, and his entire body displayed that fact rather well. It would be difficult to find a good weakness of this stance, as the spear is pointed tto his right... meaning going to his right would obviously be a bad choice to make. =P Then again, the blade seemed ready to dart left, should he take that route, and straight ahead? Nah... that's almost as bad as going to his left. Plus... in addition to ALL of that... the spear was pointed low... meaning it was harder to block. Holy shit. effectively creating a virtually flawless defense on Yerev’s behalf. He couldn’t get \near\ the man easily, but he knew well that if he waited too long then his foe would come for him...and any decent chance he had at killing the man would be forever lost.
“Heh.”
A grunt of clarity. Celox abruptly darts forward, his confidence growing with each step that passed. His eyes were focused, concentrated not on the eyes of his enigmatic foe but his \body\. He was adept at following his foes movements---even those of the more abstract breed. Body language was everything to him in battle, and the slightest flinch or twitch given off by the target was of at least \some\ kind of relevance to him, even if very little.
He ran forward, each step taken rather heavily, pressure being generously applied to each one, should he need the momentum to jump or dive or roll out of the way. His true intent, though? To make a straight dash at his foe. He had every intent to strike the man without changing course...and as an obscure addition to that, he was essentially playing “chicken” with Yerev as well, seeing who would flinch first as he made the move.
If Yerev didn't flinch then Celox would attack...
(It's a little difficult to explain but I can't say the attack yet I need Yerev's reaction first. Just know Celox wouldn't run into the spear, he'll act beforehand, provided Yerev doesn't give him reason to alter course.)

((Haha, I'll call you a chicken for this, as all your doing is adding on to your first post. Too afraid of my stance, it seems? Oh well, two can play at this game. )) Yerev was silent, his mind and body in autopilot, watching through the cold and frigid eyes he possessed, his icy blue hair matching, seemingly watching his opponent come forth as well.. He remembered a fight long ago, in a past life, where he'd fought for his life, matching maneuver to maneuver, slash to slash with his opponent upon a graceful mountain. He remembered, his icy figure drawing back to that day where nothing mattered, and of course everything after that bout mattered not either, his life changed permanently. Fighting one's rival, muttering in anger and slashing about, throwing ones wits like a spear toward his opponent and never turning back. A small part of Yerev had died that day, which was surely for the better. No longer did he posses anger, no longer did he posses a notch of disrespect for opponents, nor did he fear the sound that came with steel clashing with other steel. A free, quaint, calm and certain warrior of darkness, the very incarnate of the Devil that this land, this world needed for some house keeping. His opponent kept on, Yerev would start mopping up, here, surely. A moment later he was back, six feet passing across his mind as he took a step back and then another, and then another, keeping up a light pace, though not matching his oncoming opponent. His spear raised slightly and came in closer to his body as he calmly yet assertively moved backward, now only a foot away from the tree behind him. His feet where just inclined, ready to pounce, or possibly make way for his opponent.. And then he did so, taking a step forward and moving his spear slightly forward, though making sure to keep his posture tight and his body far from extending itself. The spear stayed at level, though came further out, if only to surprise his opponent with a feint attack as he approached. (Spear is closer to Yerev's front now, thigh height for you, I'm guessing. Simple feint move, though it is no way extending Yerev. Now, I've done something, time for you to make your attack. )

(well... my move wouldn’t have worked without seeing your reaction to the set-up. See... depending on how the person fights, either I would’ve been killed ...which I wasn’t ;D, be matched with a counter similar to what you just did, or be forced out of my own attack by a foe who didn’t choose to move. ; Those were the only three ways I’ve known this to work... The best thing to do would have been to just wait and kill me =p as the move was either “be killed” or “come closer to killing your foe”. Crappy spear u__u; it'd be different if it were a sword... but eh.) Beautiful. And here Celox was, thinking his foe would actually carry an aggressive fighting style to match his sinister appearence. He looked the part... but apparently, he just couldn’t play it. Or rather... he didn’t want to... ; Not that it’s a bad thing... for Celox, anyway. You couldn’t see it through his mask but the man was indeed grinning a sadistic smile, his yellowed teeth sparkling like glimmering gold... Xd
Yerev’s feint was meaningless to Celox. He disregarded it, seeing the man fall back as a clear indication of how he had literally no intent of striking, be it for the moment or...even period ;. Celox had never seen anyone move back as such, and then move forward to kill or even strike, especially when they were in no relevant danger. Sure---a knife wielding masked man was coming your way but looking at who actually had the bigger advantage just killed any worry of attack...
Anyway. The spear was raised slightly, giving Celox the opportunity to better counter the spear as he moved. His intent? To go right past the thing! <.< The moment Yerev began his feint, Celox darted diagonally to that man's left, as means of getting past that blasted spear and hitting the guy holding it. Now tensing all over again, all of his attention focused to the left half of his own body (as that’s where the spear is... he’s tensing in case of a sudden attack from that direction).
Now, as he began to go towards Yerev’s left, he clasped both hands together tightly, combining his patas to form one weapon which was now being held upwards, his combined wrists now just in front of his right shoulder, (so he can swing downwards with a little extra force... like ...er. Can’t say right now.). His “special” steps remained a priority, too, just in case he needed to bail out for any reason, though now it seemed unlikely he'd need to.
Once more... Yerev would dictate how Celox would continue fighting.
(Once more... Celox doesn’t strike. Yerev basically decides that, as it purely depends on how he moves. ;D You have the weird fighting stance, I have the weird fighting style >=D
Oh yea... The way Celox moved is fairly dangerous cause he’s pretty close to the blade. It’s sorta like...
C----sY
-----sY ---C
----sY ----C
(Y---Yerev. s----Spear. C----some guy. ) As you can see... he’s not far from the spear. He’s remains about an arm-length away, meaning if you were to really thrust the thing forward, maybe put a little upperbody into it >.> (rough estimate) you could hit him. There’s a reason he’s remains so close... But let’s not get into that )

((Oh jesus, this is gonna be one of those duels. Should've known I wouldn't get something easy when fighting you. Damnit, this ant gonna be that easy..) Tricks of the Trade, Yerev knew them well. Through battle, diplomacy and overwhelming magical ability, this figure had mastered these tricks. His fighting style was that of his own, a simply odd and complex string of rigid movements that were quite flexible, but only in true defensive ways. He left his speed and quick feet for his offense, always it seemed. His opponent approached him quickly and then began to dart left, though Yerev was already in motion, his little feint attack now springing him to life as he used the large open space before him to his advantage, quickly moving his body in unison with his spear, which was aiming to meet his opponent at a certain point. Yerev was quite complex in his movements, his feet also moving with his body as he turned himself round, though made sure to quickly do this. He bent his left leg as he attempted the attack, his right swinging forward slightly so to turn his body and keep up with his torso. If his opponent would come for him then the warrior would quickly attempt at meeting him with his spear, at all costs. More or less, he still had a trick up his sleeve, as his cold and emotionless eyes stared intently upon his opponent's movements. ((Basically my upper body and lower body moves with you as you make your little dash, my spear extending itself from the feint attack slightly, as though if it was going to stay in a position of your path, like a close line of sorts, just with a spear's sharp and pointed blade. My left hand would be more extended than my right, in the end, if the info is needed. Short and sweet. I'll reply when I can, but I can't promise tomorrow/today.)

Duel?

(Well... here goes the "climax" of my strategy. Either this battle will end reeeally soon, or ...for lack of unclichéd phrases... "just be getting started" ;D) “...Almost...”
Thought by Celox silently whilst his opponent Yerev moved like a sniper trailing it’s target with his weapon. The instant Yerev began moving his feet as means to continue with his own strategy, Celox continued with his... attacking not Yerev personally, but rather his spear. This is why he combined his weapons and raised his arms as he did. Yerev was falling deeper into his trap... just as he projected... and now the man only had two more phases left; this, and the coup de grâce.
Now, like a golfer swings his putt after raising it, Celox swung his swords, still combined and acting as one. Being raised as they were would allow immense momentum to be at the mans disposal as he made this move, a downward arcing slash was made (for the clueless people in the audience (Steve <_< >_>) check a golfing vid Watch carefully as the golfer swings...etc. Note that Celox didn’t bring his weapons low to the ground, but just enough to get them under the spear so that he can knock it upwards.).
The downward slash was aimed at the spear, Celox’s entire body stopping on his left foot, no longer advancing, just focusing on the spear besides him. This move is... to be blunt, quite unorthodox, and usually surprises his victim before striking. And although it was indeed vastly effective against swords, a spear couldn’t be too much of a hassle either, could it? Let’s find out. . .
Now, as always, Celox is ready to abandon the attack as means to save his own tail. The momentum is on his left foot as stated, which is now bent, lowering his body in prepartion for a jump, either quickly away from Yerev or towards him, providing he is able to clear the spear.
(And that's my move. =p A little improvised as people usually attack by now , but I suppose this works fine. No explaination is necessary... I don't think >_>. *just likes making OOC small talk * )
