The sun was beginning to set on the lands of men, and it seemed to be a good day, and children played in the long shadows cast by the buildings and trees set orange by the sun. From up high, a small eagle was flying over the lands. He had been flying for days and felt very tired. His eyes scanned the landscape, looking for a place to rest. He saw the river and began to follow it north, passing up trees and houses because they were not comfortable enough. He knew he could find a better place.
He flew on, looking down, he saw farmhouses, traders and performers head to the inns for bed and dinner, and fishermen coming in from a long day on the river. He then saw his destination. A large city of men rested on the riverbank, with people coming into the safety of the walls. As he flew on, he saw a lone figure, clothes in white robes slowly riding a white steed toward the gates of the city. This made the eagle curious, especially since there seemed to be a white light eminating from him, but the eagle just took it as glare and flew on.
He swooped over the walls and began flying through buildings and smokestacks to find a place to rest. he then saw it. He flew toward and open courtyard near the riverside surrounded by pillars and trees. The eagle settled on a large willow by the courtyard which was filled with nine old men, laced in silver robes and appartly debating about something. This did not bother the bird, for the sound of old men always put him right to sleep. The eagle closed his eyes to the sound of them arguing about some angel...

"Im not saying we should disband this all together. I am just stating that he said he would return soon, and we have had no sign or word of him since he left us. We have to move on, and get a new lord."
~Council Member Cirus
"Gloril, we had been told to wait, for he told us he would return. He left us in a golden age and we still remain, for the city has flourished since his arrival and it remains this way. I say you do not dam a river that still provides fish."
~Council Member Dorian
"But how long do we think that the fish will be here. The city cries out for a new lord, and the angel never said he would return soon. I say we find another We have many likely cadidates, let's just pick one and be done with this."
~Council Member Natus
"Peace brother, let us get more council, for the decision will be reached before the sun sets. Elder Gramis, what say you?"
All eyes turned to the ceter of the half circle. easily the oldest man sat there. HIs eyes closed, as if asleep, but all there knew he had heard every word, they also knew not to rush the council of their leader. However, before he could speak, a young door guard ran into the coutyard, bowing on one knee, breathing hard.
~Guard
"My apologies my excellencies, but there is man here saying he has an audience with the council, he knew all the passwords and says he is to be expected."
The entire council looked shocked, all but Gramis, who smiled slightly and raised a hand
~Council Elder Gramis
"Yes he is right on time, permit him"
The young man ran back off, as the council muttered and shot strange glances at Gramis, who just smiled, eyes still closed. Just then they all fell into silence, and a tall man robed in white slowly walked up the path into the courtyard. He walked right into the middle of the circle and stopped, his hooded face facing Gramis. Gramis then smiled and opened his eyes
